ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

RACKsteel is looking for an AutoCAD Drafting Technician to join our team. Our operations and engineering department specializes in designing and creating installation drawings using structural drawings, for the field stage for installation.

Work side by side with our Drafting Coordinator and Engineering Manager. Not only will you operate within AutoCAD, but we also hope you will take on the challenge of learning some base engineering in the pallet racking industry with the close guidance of our engineers and the drafting coordinator.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direction of the Drafting Coordinator, you will:
• Prepare clear, concise, accurate AutoCAD drawings to show elevations, building layouts, and other specs for warehouse racking designs
• Review and update drawings for accuracy and conformance to the engineer’s design
• Maintain accurate records of project correspondence and issues
• Prepare engineering designs and drawings, write specifications/notes
• Complete documentation packages and drawing sets
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of project activities, demonstrating strong attention to detail while handling drafting and CAD files
• Read and interpret blueprints
• Examine drawings for conformity and errors

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Relevant Education in CAD Technology or drafting
• Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of AutoCAD software application experience
• Experience with document and asset management within Autodesk
• Ability to multitask and manage several projects at a time
• Capable of working in a Block based workflow.
• Knowledge in the creation of custom attributes within blocks.
• Experience using Annotative Scaling for text, dimensions, blocks & hatches.
• Familiar with the use of link data for spreadsheet tables is an asset
• Knowledge and/or understanding of the use of plug-ins/add-ins for AutoCAD is an asset
• Capable of working side by side with sales to adjust drawings
• Experience with reviewing and navigating through typical construction drawings
• Thorough understanding and efficiency with drafting standards
• Knowledge of B.C. Building Code 2018 is an asset
• Strong organizational and prioritizing skills with the ability to take initiative
• Experience in architectural or structural AutoCAD drawings is a key asset
• Knowledge of ASL is an asset

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

$21-24/ hour. To be determined based on applicants level of experience
