50% Frame Build & Assembly:
• Build frames both independently and in a team setting according to work orders and assembly guides
• Be hands on tools and operate band saw and other tools to prepare custom materials
• Plan and schedule frame builds to ensure of orders are ready on time in collaboration with our Foreman, Coordinator
• Responsible for maintaining high level of assembly quality control
• Develop and apply control methods to maintain a high level of labor efficiency
• Operate and maintain our Iron Worker equipment. Produce steel safety products according to work orders.
30% Shop Coordination:
• Perform inventory control and submit stock material reports
• Keep warehouse organized and clean according to company’s rules and expectations
• Check to ensure toolbox contents are stocked and match the tool inventory checklist for install crews
• Make sure material handling equipment is charged and ready to be sent to the job sites for install crews
• Make sure install vehicles are parked in designated sports in the warehouse for overnight storage
• Manage cardboard, garbage, and scrap metal runs when required
• Manage yard organization and effectively store materials
• Assist and/or complete special shop/facility improvement initiatives.
20% Shipping & Receiving:
• Unload and receive dynamic load containers and flat decks including lengths of steel and other raw materials
• Organize stock of raw materials by ensuring materials are allocated to designated areas
• Track and report damaged goods
• Prepare and pack dynamic load orders for shipping according to the Work Orders ranging from 4’ bundles to 24’ bundles of steel
• Loading orders consisting of steel bundles on to flat deck and related vehicles.
• Assisting customers with loading pickup orders on to their transport vehicles
• Ensure orders are packed, strapped, and prepared safety
• Keep track of consumables inventory: shirts, earplugs, gloves etc.
Occupational Safety:
• Daily core focus to support and promote Occupational Health & Safety
• Understand risks in the workplace and implement preventative measures
• Stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy
• Act as the primary point of contact for safety-oriented initiatives. Collaborate with operational management to ensure hazards and risks are identified, reported, and managed.
• Participate in JOHS meetings on our shop floor
• Document site safety inspections
• Assist in the development and enhance Job Hazard Analysis and Safe Work Practice documents based on existing materials
• Occasionally help on Jobsites with installs/frame build
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance
• Experienced operating a forklift
• Able to work efficiently and on independently (must be able to multitask)
• Have 1-2 years of experience in an industrial shop environment.
• Must have good time management skills
• Must have strong communication skills to maintain positive working relationships.
• Must be able to read English in order to effectively communicate with other team members, management, customers, and other employees.
• To have a strong work ethic, and be capable of sustaining physical activity for the duration of an 8–10-hour shift
• To be able to learn new tasks and follow instructions
• To be able to perform repetitive work with accuracy and attention to detail
• Valid driver’s license independently
• To work amongst a diverse culture and promote a positive environment
