Welcome to RACKsteel Material Handling
Selective pallet racking is a highly adaptable system designed to support high SKU counts and fast-moving palletized goods. It allows direct access to every pallet without requiring others to be moved, making it one of the most efficient solutions for warehouses and distribution centers that prioritize speed, visibility, and operational flow.
For operations focused on order picking, fast replenishment, and ease of access, selective racking provides the versatility and throughput needed to manage fluctuating inventory volumes with confidence.
Even when installed in back-to-back rows to reduce aisle width, selective racking ensures that each pallet location remains fully accessible, combining space efficiency with high performance.

Wide aisle racking is the most common configuration, offering clear visibility and open access for standard 3- or 4-wheel forklifts (Class I or IV). Aisles typically range from 144″ to 160″ wide, allowing operators to move easily through the system with pallet trucks, walkies, or carts. It provides a great balance of accessibility, flexibility, and affordability—making it ideal for general warehousing and replenishment-focused operations.
Double deep racking is configured with pallets stored two positions deep. This increases storage density by over 50% while reducing the number of aisles required. It’s a smart choice for high-volume facilities using reach trucks (Class II) equipped for double-deep retrieval. The system can also be converted into a standard selective rack for flexibility and long-term adaptability.
VNA racking optimizes vertical space while reducing aisle widths to 50″–78″. With lift heights of up to 56 feet, VNA racking maximizes cubic storage and improves picking speeds when paired with turret trucks, guide rails, or specialized lift equipment. This system is ideal for high-density facilities where space optimization and fast access are critical.
For facilities looking to further enhance functionality, selective racking can be integrated with high bay pallet racking systems and outfitted with rectangular electro welded mesh or metal or chipboard shelves for added stability, load capacity, and inventory support. Rectangular metal plates may also be used to reinforce load-bearing components within the racking structure, especially in high-capacity applications.
Double deep and VNA configurations reduce required aisle space, allowing more pallets to be stored per square foot and increasing overall storage locations. In double deep racking, the pallet furthest from the aisle requires specialized reach equipment, but the increase in density is a valuable trade-off for many high-throughput operations.
Additionally, these systems are compatible with automated warehouse technologies, including turret trucks and vertical lift modules, and can be adapted to support future integration with automatic storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS). As warehouse demands evolve, these selective racking configurations provide the foundation for flexible, efficient inventory management.
Selective pallet racking is one of the most widespread storage solutions used in industrial, retail, and logistics environments, particularly where multiple storage needs and fast-paced fulfillment operations are a priority. More adaptable than conventional pallet racking, this solution supports efficient inventory management and offers layout flexibility for evolving workflows.
Designed to scale with your operations, selective pallet racking continues to be the most widespread storage system for businesses that prioritize flexibility, safety, managing large unit loads, and high-performance inventory flow.
RACKsteel Material Handling delivers selective racking systems that are tailored to your space, workflow, and operational goals. We offer turnkey solutions, full project management, and expert guidance to help you select and implement the ideal configuration for your facility—including adjustable pallet racking, structural pallet racking, and other optimized pallet storage systems. If you find yourself trying to limit storage capacity, as storage solutions experts, we work with you to establish a selective system with structural integrity, safety measures, and optimize storage functions.
From straightforward selective racking to integrated systems with forklift solutions, our approach is built on reliability, safety, and operational efficiency. Each combination integrates pallet storage, storage systems, and pallet racks designed to support throughput and material flow.

We also supply HELI and Hubtex forklifts to complement your racking layout—ensuring seamless material movement across receiving, storage, and shipping zones, and compatibility with your pallet rack beams and overall warehouse design.
RACKsteel Material Handling maintains a ready-to-ship inventory of warehouse pallet racking systems at our Langley facility in BC, with reliable distribution across British Columbia and throughout Canada. Our in-stock selection includes selective pallet racking, double deep pallet racking, and adjustable pallet racking—each designed to support efficient storage and retrieval operations across a range of industries.
Selective pallet racking remains the most widely used solution for general-purpose warehousing, offering direct pallet access, streamlined order picking, and high SKU visibility. Common across industries such as manufacturing, logistics, retail, and e-commerce, it’s valued for its versatility, durability, and ability to handle various unit loads with standard or adjustable pallet racking setups. For operations requiring greater density, double deep pallet racking significantly boosts storage capacity while maintaining organized pallet storage and clear access lanes. Integrated with compatible pallet racks and handling equipment, these systems support efficient warehouse performance.
Our inventory includes steel uprights, cross beams, and a full range of heavy-duty components in standard sizes, ready to configure into optimized layouts. Whether you’re planning a new facility or expanding an existing storage system, our pallet racking systems help maximize storage space and throughput.
RACKsteel works closely with warehouse operators to design systems aligned with specific space, load, and operational needs. With fast quoting, short lead times, and professional installation services available, we help minimize project delays and keep your operations moving efficiently.
After 60 years at their original location, Robar Industries had outgrown their base of operations and made the decision to invest in a larger, brand new, modern facility in Surrey’s Campbell Heights industrial area.
Cozey is a rapidly growing, Montreal based furniture company who recently expanded operations to the West Coast. Cozey came to RACKsteel Material Handling by way of referral from their warehouses’ previous tenant, Menzies Metal Products.
Mauser Packaging required new selective pallet racking in 2 areas of the warehouse of their Langley BC production facility. Project Consultant Stuart worked with RACKsteel Material Handling in-house engineer and the Mauser Team to provide them with a solution that optimized space and maximized pallet positions for each of the 2 areas.
