RACK INSPECTION SERVICE

Our rack inspection service provides you with a detailed report on what immediate and recommended action should be taken to improve rack safety.

We first consider your warehouse size, racking configuration, and review of your existing drawings or recent repair summary. Our proposal will be based on the complexity of the project.

A detailed inspection including notes, pictures, and reference locations will be noted.

A detailed report will be provided from our engineering partners including a deficiency list with images. Immediate issues or damages will be highlighted as Step 1 in improving your rack system.  A separate Racksteel proposal will be provided with the associated repair or replacement costs.

At Racksteel, our installation team is second to none when considering a crew to tackle the repair work. Our proposal will break down the labor and required materials to get it done.

We can provide a confirmation stamped letter once the repairs are completed.

We can prepare engineered stamped drawings along with capacity cards to be utilized for your racking. Note we will need building documentation such as a geotechnical report and stamped structural drawing of the facility. This is an extra service our engineering partners can provide in addition to the rack inspection report.

It’s recommended an experienced person in the industry, such as an engineer with racking experience, conduct annual inspections. However a best practice for your internal safety program should be a dedicated person to review your racking system monthly and note of damage that needs to be addressed.

RECOMMENDATIONS

CSA A344-17 User guide for steel storage racks recommends the following:

8.1.2: A rack inspection program should be developed that includes routine inspections (typically monthly) and a more rigorous expert inspection that is performed by persons with special knowledge and training with respect to structural engineering concepts and rack inspection procedures.

8.1.6: The frequency of both routine and expert inspections should be determined by a risk assessment done by a health and safety professional, the rack vendor, or engineering consultant  specialized in rack inspection. In general, the routine inspections should be conducted monthly, and the expert inspections performed annually. The frequency should, as a minimum, ensure compliance with local regulations. Note: the frequency of inspections can change over time depending on the outcome and findings  of successive inspections.
